Written and directed by Ikaika Mendez, ‘A‘apueo tells the story of an owl of the same name and her war with the people of Wailuku, Maui. Scenes flash between the past and present day. Contemporary music accompanies lyrics rich with hidden meaning. An ensemble of hula dancers equally elegant and explosive fill the stage. In this modern retelling, ‘A‘apueo and her admonitions will be remembered for generations.
